These stylish kicks are made in conjunction with the Lunar New Year 

Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger is getting into the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year by introducing a new festive spin on its iconic Mexico 66 sneakers in lieu of the Year of the Rabbit. While this may not be as full on rabbit themed as some of the other products we highlighted recently, it is still rather cool.

These new Rabbit inspired sneakers are based on the brand’s signature model from its heritage series, and features the iconic Onitsuka Tiger stripes in faux fur and suede. The sneakers are decorated with details inspired by the 2023 Zodiac animal and even features the number “2023” printed on the sock liner and on the shoebox.

Moreover, these Rabbit inspired sneakers come in different styles with some having the stripes more prominent while others with more faux fur instead. Some versions also have laces only while others also feature a strap with the laces and even just no faux fur either. So, there is a unique style for everyone.

Each pair ships in their own special edition shoe boxes as well. Following the theme, these rabbit inspired Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers are also equally as festive and fun looking as the sneakers themselves. The box is red which is symbolic of prosperity during the Lunar New Year in Chinese culture.

Furthermore, all versions of the rabbit inspired Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers come in the same color scheme. This is a Cream/Birch color and admittedly, we think it looks excellent. While it may not be red like the box, we feel that was the right decision as the sneakers would end up being less versatile as a result.
