Bon Appétit, Your Majesty

Netflix is dishing out a bold new take on K-romance with Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, an inventive fantasy rom-com set to premiere worldwide on 23 August. Blending historical drama, culinary spectacle and slow-burn romance, the series stars King the Land’s Lim Yoon-a and rising actor Lee Chae-min (Crash Course in Romance, Hierarchy) in a high-stakes tale of food, fate and fiery feelings.

In the newly released main trailer, world-renowned chef Yeon Ji-young (Lim Yoon-a) finds herself suddenly transported from a high-pressure French culinary competition to the grand royal palace of a fearsome Joseon-era king. Her new sovereign? King Lee Heon (Lee Chae-min) — a tyrant with an unforgiving palate and a reputation for punishing failure without mercy.

With no clear way back to her own time, Ji-young decides to do what she does best: cook. And not just cook — transform. From sizzling steaks to flawless pasta, her bold, modern creations not only upend the ancient royal kitchen but also begin to chip away at the king’s icy façade.

Star Power In The Kitchen

Lim Yoon-a brings her trademark grit and charisma to the role of Yeon Ji-young, a chef with Michelin-star ambitions and zero time for royal etiquette. Fiercely independent and unapologetically modern, Ji-young might just be the one person who refuses to kneel to the king — and perhaps, the only one who can truly change him.

Opposite her is Lee Chae-min as King Lee Heon — a cold, calculating ruler with a god-tier sense of taste and a heart that seems frozen in time. Distrustful and domineering, he demands perfection from his court and his cuisine. But Ji-young’s unorthodox dishes — and defiant attitude — begin to rattle his tightly controlled world.

Directed by Baek Seung-ryong (Pegasus Market, King of Pigs), Bon Appétit, Your Majesty promises a mouth-watering mix of sharp wit, slow-burn romance and sumptuous visuals — from elaborate palace feasts to steamy kitchen confrontations.
