DC Studios’ Supergirl will make its global streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max on 10 September 2026, bringing a new interpretation of the Kryptonian hero to the screen.
Starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, the film follows Superman’s cousin as she navigates life beyond Earth while developing her own approach to heroism. She is joined by Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet and Jason Momoa.
The film introduces Supergirl into the new DC Universe, presenting Kara as a more headstrong and unconventional counterpart to Superman. Her journey begins when an unexpected adversary brings a personal threat close to home, forcing her to team up with an unlikely companion.

Their interstellar journey becomes a struggle between vengeance and justice, while also putting the life of Kara’s best friend — her dog Krypto — at stake.
Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira. It is produced by DC Studios co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn, with Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars P. Wint serving as executive producers.
Based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the film offers a new entry point into the DC Universe while shifting the focus from Superman to his cousin and her own distinctive take on what it means to be a hero.
