Starting 9 October, Hulu will replace Star as the global general entertainment brand on Disney+, with Disney+ Hotstar rebranding to Disney+ in Malaysia. The update brings a fresh slate of U.S., Korean and Japanese originals to local audiences.
Hulu is set to make its global debut as the new general entertainment brand on Disney+, replacing the existing Star tile. The rebrand takes effect from 9 October 2025, marking a significant expansion of Hulu’s reach beyond the United States.
Bye Bye Hotstar

As part of the update, Disney+ Hotstar in Malaysia will be rebranded to simply Disney+, aligning with the streaming platform’s global identity. While the name and interface may change, subscribers can continue to enjoy a rich and diverse catalogue of content – from globally acclaimed entertainment to locally resonant Asian productions.
Hulu, known for its bold, award-winning original programming and its distinctive green branding, will become the home of general entertainment within Disney+. The new Hulu tile will feature an exciting slate of content, including U.S., Korean, and Japanese originals.
Look Out For

Among the upcoming titles are All’s Fair, a stylish legal drama from Ryan Murphy starring Glenn Close, Kim Kardashian, and Niecy Nash; Would You Marry Me, a heartwarming romantic comedy featuring Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min; The Manipulated, a gritty Korean action thriller starring Ji Changwook and Doh Kyungsoo; and WANDANCE, a visually captivating coming-of-age Japanese anime.
These new additions will complement a robust library of fan favourites and critically acclaimed hits such as Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, Shōgun, and High Potential. Malaysian audiences can also continue enjoying popular Korean and Japanese titles like Moving, Gannibal, A Shop for Killers, The Judge from Hell, Tempest, and Nine Puzzles.
Enhanced Experience

“Disney+ is known to have the most beloved library of content in Malaysia. With Hulu as our new general entertainment brand on Disney+, we will continue to deliver unparalleled storytelling to families, friends and fans,” said Vineet Puri, Vice President and General Manager of The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia.
With this change, Disney+ cements its position as the go-to streaming destination for high-quality family and general entertainment content from around the world.
