On 8 October 2025, the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) in KLCC will come alive with the dynamic energy of the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) and Tengku Irfan as they take to the stage for an unforgettable evening of classical music.

Conducted by the Malaysian music prodigy, this special concert will showcase the extraordinary talents of the country’s rising stars and feature a captivating programme of some of the most iconic works in classical music.

A Star-Studded Collaboration

Irfan, renowned for his exceptional skills as a composer, pianist, and conductor, will lead the MPYO in this special performance. A true virtuoso, Irfan has been a significant figure in the classical music world since his debut with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) in 2009.

The concert will open with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture, a passionate and dramatic piece that captures the essence of the timeless Shakespearean tragedy. The MPYO will then showcase the evocative beauty of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, one of the greatest violin concertos of all time. Talented MPYO violinist Ham Kay Lyn will take center stage for the first movement, demonstrating her skill and emotional depth in this extraordinary work.

Next Generation Of Talent

The MPYO, which comprises talented young musicians, is a key part of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra’s initiative to nurture the future of classical music in Malaysia. Through these collaborations, the MPO provides invaluable coaching and mentorship to the next generation of musicians, helping them hone their skills and deepen their appreciation for the art form.
