The Terminator High was the first Nike college basketball team signature shoe

Comme des Garcons has announced the launch of its latest collaborative sneaker with Nike, the Terminator High. First introduced in 1985 as a special edition sneaker for the Georgetown Hoyas men’s program, the Terminator High was Nike’s first signature shoe for a college basketball team.

Beauty In Simplicity

Keeping its rendition simple and reminiscent of the original launch, Comme des Garcons Homme Plus updates the silhouette to feature Black, Navy and Red colour block panels. There’s also a matching Swoosh and “CDG” and “NIKE” displayed on the heel allowing for more options to choose from.

Premium Build, Premium Quality

The sneaker is made of premium leather with a perforated toe box for breathability, a padded collar and tongue for comfort. Key features also include a pronounced pull tab and unique lacing system. All this makes it not just trendy but also gives it a style that pays homage to the original sneakers but with modern updates for a whole new generation of sneakerheads.

A Message To Display

Creative directors Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Karl Bolander of House + Holme are behind the new Nike x Comme des Garcons Terminator High campaign. Together, they bring to life a family of elephants on their journey to a nearby watering hole. This is indicative of the message the show is going for.

The director and producer of the film was CLOSER, a recently launched creative agency led by Mark Loy, Andreas Neophytou, and Donald Stewart. The agency focuses on the intersection of creativity and innovation for prestige brands. And the Terminator High reflects this very well.

When Does It Launch

The Nike x Comme des Garcons Terminator High launched on 1 April 2023, Saturday, at COMME des GARCONS voco Orchard, Dover Street Market Singapore and on the Official DSM Website for SGD450 (MYR1490).
