The collection uses the Timberloop circular design approach to its iconic boot

Timberland has announced the first Future73 drop in partnership with CLOT and its founder and creative director, Edison Chen. The collection brings the brand’s Timberloop circular design to the brand’s Premium 6-inch boot for the first time, as well as an apparel capsule inspired by CLOT’s “East Meets West” design ethos.

Why Edison Chen

Edison Chen, founder and creative director of CLOT, is an actor turned designer Chen has been inspired by Timberland since his teenage years as a fan of hip-hop culture and style. He is also environmentally conscious and is always looking for more ways to commit to an eco-friendly business model.

Chen stated, “Being able to work with Timberland on Future73 has been an exciting adventure. Trying to figure out ways to create products more intellectually; from a perspective of loving the Earth; that not only speaks to the kids but also to the kids’ kids.”

Sustainability First

Moreover, the Future73 Collection was designed with sustainability in mind both in terms of material choices and construction methods. The Timberland 6-inch boot for instance has been specifically designed to be recycled at the end. It utilises soles stitched to the uppers making it easy to be disassembled.

About 50 percent of the boot is also made from premium, regeneratively farmed materials. A total of 70 percent of the leather upper and 55 percent of the rubber outside was sourced from farms committed to regenerative agriculture practices that are focused towards restoring the environment.

A Design Combination Made In Heaven

Steered by a design ethos wrapped in emotion and story, the Future73 collection boot incorporates tiger print panels patterned with tiger stripe camo in homage to the king of the jungle. Embossed on the upper is an ancient saying, “If this exists, that exists; if this ceases to exist, that also ceases to exist.”

What Else?

The Future73 collection apparel capsule also includes the kimono chore coat, quilted vest; cargo pants with graphic embroidery, overshirt with graphic embroidery; pullover hoodie and quilted wrap. Key details include utilitarian patch pockets, bound cuffs and edging, cotton buttons, and woven co-branded labels.

The Future73 collection will launch on 30 March 2023 at Timberland Pavilion and Sunway Pyramid and online at the Official Timberland Website.
