Piaget adds to its family along with a new watch with artist, Andy Warhol

The story of the Piaget family is one steeped in loyalty and creativity, evolving like an epic tale. Founded by Georges-Édouard Piaget, the brand flourished, particularly with the introduction of the ultra-thin movement in the late 1950s, which unlocked new realms of design.

Art Tells Time

Valentin, the third-generation family member, was instrumental in this legacy. He inspired designers to seek inspiration from the world of Haute Couture, merging fashion and watchmaking in a groundbreaking way. Piaget’s ateliers, renowned for their goldsmithing, transformed precious materials into breathtaking works of art.

The first boutique, opened in 1959 as ‘Salon Piaget,’ became a destination that celebrated craftsmanship as an art form, creating an intimate atmosphere where artisans were recognised as artists. In the 1960s, Yves Piaget, the fourth-generation descendant, propelled the Maison onto the international stage.

New Innovations

He introduced avant-garde collections that attracted a new aristocracy of clients, including icons like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Elizabeth Taylor. Piaget’s high jewellery creations, known for their striking asymmetry and innovative stone cuts, showcased exceptional artistry, laying the groundwork for collaborations with artists such as Salvador Dalí.

The Piaget Society emerged as a network of influential figures, where Yves Piaget fostered genuine friendships with clients, artists, and celebrities. He created a unique community that blurred the lines between personal and professional relationships, making the brand a vibrant cultural hub during the extravagant 70s and 80s.

A New Dawn

Today, a new generation, led by Ella Richards, continues this legacy. With her impressive lineage and stylish presence, she embodies the spirit of the Maison.  The Piaget Society remains a dynamic community, linking the past with the present and ensuring that creativity and passion continue to flourish.
