Bangkok gets a taste of London with Wolseley popping up for a bit
The Wolseley Hospitality Group, owner and operator of some of London’s most beloved restaurants including the famed The Wolseley on Piccadilly and The Delaunay in Aldwych, is bringing its distinct European fare to Bangkok, Thailand for a limited time only.
Cafe Wolseley, the group’s first international venture and a reference to its London flagship, will delight Bangkok in European grand cafe fashion when it opens at Madison Restaurant at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. For three months starting April, diners can savour signature dishes from the restaurant that combines British heritage with European style along with the marque’s classics as well as contemporary additions.
European Gastronomic Excellence
Diners can expect a menu brimming with quintessential European classics. This includes, Dressed Dorset Crab with brown crab mayonnaise and lemon, to its Coq au Vin of red wine braised chicken with pancetta, pearl onions and button mushrooms. For dessert, nothing quite beats the Creme Brulee and a Muscovado caramelised set vanilla custard.
Starter highlights include Petit Plateau de Fruits de Mer, a selection of oysters and shellfish from Rungis Market in Paris served on crushed ice with lemon and shallot vinegar. There’s also Steak Tartare, a hand chopped rump steak with a spicy relish, cornichons, and capers, as well as Escargots a la Bourguignonne, escargots in the shell with garlic and parsley butter, finished with Pernod.
European Flare In Sunny Thailand
On top of that, a fixed price menu of two or three courses with choices is also available. In the restaurant’s private dining room, groups of up to eighteen diners can sample a five-course private menu of Classic Wolseley Canapes, as well as a Prawn and Avocado Cocktail, or Heritage Beetroot Salad or a Roast Anjou Chicken with Morels along with Baked Vanilla Cheesecake.
The restaurant’s cocktail menu takes its cue from some of Cafe Wolseley’s favourites, albeit with an added playful twist. Check out the Mai O’ Mai Tai of light rum, aged Jamaican rum, lime juice, pistachio orgeat, milk and orange Curacao, as well as a Whiskey Velvet with Rye whiskey, lemon juice, milk liqueur and egg white.
Cafe Wolseley is located in the Parichart Court at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and is open from Monday to Saturday for lunch from 12.00pm to 2.30pm and Monday to Sunday for dinner from 6.00pm to 10.30pm. For more information or to make a reservation, visit the Official Anantara Website.
