International Violin Virtuoso Ning Feng Returns To Perform In Malaysia

Be dazzled by the beauty of Ning Feng and his violin with the Malaysian Philharmonic
Internationally renowned violinist Ning Feng will make a grand return to the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) stage, performing with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) on Saturday, 22 June 2024, at 8.30 pm. This eagerly anticipated concert marks his second collaboration with the MPO, following their successful performances in 2008.
A Stellar Portfolio
Ning Feng, celebrated for his lyrical expressiveness, innate musicality, and stunning virtuosity, is a global sensation. He has graced the stages of major orchestras like the BBC, Helsinki, and Royal Liverpool Philharmonics and has worked with eminent conductors such as Vladimir Spivakov and Vassily Petrenko.
An accomplished chamber musician, Ning Feng has also collaborated with renowned artists like Daniel Muller-Schott, Nicholas Angelich, and Igor Levit. Born in China, he boasts an impressive discography that reflects his prolific recording career.
A Quality Show
In this concert, Ning Feng will perform Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D, the composer’s only violin concerto. Written in 1806, this masterpiece is celebrated for its length and complexity, remaining one of the most exalted concertos in the repertoire.
The MPO will also enchant the audience with Haydn’s Symphony No. 2 in C, known for its bright sonorities, sudden surprises, dynamic changes, and rhythmic vitality. The evening will culminate with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9 in E flat, a work characterised by sardonic humour, wit, and verve, written in the aftermath of World War II.
New Faces
On top of that, this concert will also introduce conductor Jaume Santonja to the DFP podium. Santonja has conducted prestigious ensembles such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the Belgrade Philharmonic, among others in his native Spain.
