Suntory Toki Japanese Whisky Launches In Malaysia
Share
The House of Suntory has officially launched Toki Suntory Whisky in Malaysia, bringing one of its contemporary Japanese whisky expressions to the local market.
Meaning “time” in Japanese, Toki reflects Suntory’s approach to whisky-making, where traditional methods and heritage are balanced with a willingness to reinterpret established conventions.
At the heart of Toki is an equal 50:50 balance of malt and grain whisky, an approach developed under Suntory’s fourth Chief Blender, Shinji Fukuyo. Rather than positioning grain whisky as a supporting component, the blend gives both styles an equal role in shaping its character.

The whisky brings together malt whiskies from Hakushu and Yamazaki, alongside grain whisky from Chita. Hakushu malt matured in American white oak casks contributes freshness and green apple notes, while Chita’s heavy-type grain whisky adds gentle sweetness, vanilla-like smoothness and structure. Yamazaki malt whiskies provide additional depth and roundness.
The resulting profile is designed to be balanced and approachable, with a combination of freshness, sweetness and layered complexity. It is also intended as a sipping whisky, reflecting Suntory’s broader philosophy of harmony, or wa, in which contrasting elements are brought together rather than dominated by one another.
Toki’s arrival adds another expression of Japanese whisky to Malaysia’s growing spirits landscape, while offering a contemporary interpretation of Suntory’s blending traditions.
The whisky is available in Malaysia from September 2026.
