HBO Max is heating up this August with an impressive slate of premieres and returning favourites, including multiple Emmy-nominated titles and eagerly anticipated new releases. The streaming platform is celebrating a record-breaking 142 Emmy nominations across 20 original programmes ahead of the 77th annual Emmy Awards, to be held on 14 September 2025 in the United States (15 September in Malaysia).

Among the most talked-about premieres is the sci-fi epic Star Trek: Section 31, starring Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, set to debut on 30 August. Action-comedy fans can look forward to Love Hurts, featuring Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, launching on 23 August. Both titles will also air on HBO at 9pm the following evening.

Other highlights include the return of the Max Original hit series Peacemaker, with season two launching on 22 August, and the big-screen blockbuster Sonic the Hedgehog 3, premiering on 9 August.
