The Ascott Brings The Lyf brand properties to a tally of five in the Garden City
The Ascott, part of CapitaLand Investment (CLI), and Warees Investments Pte Ltd (Warees) have announced their second strategic partnership with the signing of lyf Chinatown Singapore. This event, coinciding with the groundbreaking ceremony of Jamae Chulia Heritage, was attended by Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development.
The Next Level
Ascott and Warees first partnered in 2004 with Somerset Bencoolen Singapore, which was renovated in 2019. This 20-year partnership has been further strengthened with the new lyf Chinatown Singapore, set to open in mid-2026.
Managed by Ascott and commissioned by Warees through WJC Heritage Pte Ltd, this property will cover 3,394 sqm and feature 90 accommodation units along with social spaces like the coworking lounge ‘Connect,’ social kitchen ‘Bond,’ launderette ‘Wash & Hang,’ gym ‘Burn,’ rooftop swimming pool ‘Dip,’ and outdoor courtyard and terrace.
Continuous Growth
The lyf brand, short for ‘live your freedom,’ has evolved from a coliving concept to a comprehensive hospitality experience, catering to the next-generation traveller, including digital nomads and creatives. With properties in 23 cities worldwide and over 5,900 units either operational or in the pipeline, lyf offers flexible accommodation types ranging from coliving spaces and city hotels to full-service resorts.
Ms. Wong Kar Ling, Chief Strategy Officer at Ascott and Managing Director of Southeast Asia, expressed excitement about expanding Ascott’s portfolio to 23 properties in Singapore. She highlighted lyf’s appeal to modern travellers seeking immersive community experiences and unique connections.
Diverse Growth
Situated in the vibrant Chinatown district, lyf Chinatown Singapore will provide guests with opportunities to engage deeply with local culture and diversity. The Stay, Work, Play concept of the lyf brand ensures guests have access to well-designed apartments and shared social spaces, with experiences centred around Arts, Culture & Entertainment, Health & Wellness, and more.
The #lyfgoesLOCAL program will focus on local arts and culture, enhancing the guest experience with the neighbourhood’s rich offerings. This project, combining new developments with historic conservation shophouses, exemplifies the synergy of old and new, appealing to travellers’ evolving needs while creating social value through placemaking.
