Silver Hill Duck, one of Ireland’s most celebrated poultry producers, has officially entered the Malaysian market, marking a significant milestone for both the company and the country’s premium food and hospitality sector.

The launch follows the company’s successful attainment of halal certification from the Islamic Foundation of Ireland, recognised by Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM). The certification enables Silver Hill Duck to supply Malaysia’s mainstream retail and foodservice channels, broadening access to a product that has long been regarded as a favourite among chefs in Europe.

Founded in 1962 in County Monaghan, Ireland, Silver Hill has built its reputation over six decades by breeding a proprietary cross between Aylesbury and Peking ducks. The company oversees every stage of production—from breeding and hatching to farming and processing—producing more than four million ducks annually for markets across more than 30 countries.

Often referred to as the “Wagyu of Ducks”, Silver Hill is particularly prized for its balanced fat-to-meat ratio, which delivers succulent meat and crisp skin. The brand is especially well known in London’s Chinatown, where it supplies the vast majority of restaurants specialising in Cantonese roast duck.

To mark its Malaysian debut, Silver Hill hosted an exclusive luncheon attended by Her Excellency Orla Tunney, Ambassador of Ireland to Malaysia, representatives from Bord Bia, the Irish Food Board, alongside chefs, hospitality professionals and industry partners. The event highlighted the growing agricultural and trade relationship between Ireland and Malaysia, particularly in premium food exports.

As it establishes its presence locally, Silver Hill Duck will partner with leading Chinese restaurant groups including Grand Imperial Group, Upper Palace Dining Group, Qing Cuisine Group and Fui Chiu Group, alongside hospitality operators such as Hilton Hotels Malaysia and InterContinental Hotels Malaysia.

With Malaysia’s appetite for premium dining continuing to grow, Silver Hill’s arrival introduces chefs and restaurateurs to a heritage Irish product that combines provenance, traceability and halal certification—qualities increasingly valued by both the hospitality industry and consumers alike.
