Sheraton has opened Sheraton Kota Kinabalu, adding a new high-rise hotel to Sabah’s capital and bringing the brand’s updated design concept to the city’s waterfront.

Set along Jalan Albert Kwok, the 307-room hotel occupies one of the tallest towers in Borneo and looks out over the South China Sea, with Mount Kinabalu visible on clear days. Its location places guests within easy reach of the waterfront, shopping areas and key attractions, making it a convenient base for both leisure and business travellers.

The hotel reflects Sheraton’s recent shift towards more open, multifunctional spaces. A central communal lobby serves as a shared area for working, meeting or relaxing, with flexible seating, charging points and quieter booths for private calls or focused time. The idea is to blur the lines between social and work spaces rather than separate them.

Rooms and suites at the Sheraton Kota Kinabalu are designed with simplicity and comfort in mind, featuring large windows, neutral tones and layouts that maximise natural light. Higher-category rooms and suites offer broader city or sea views, while Sheraton Club guests have access to a dedicated lounge for work and downtime.

Dining options range from all-day dining at Daily Social to casual bites and coffee at &More by Sheraton. A rooftop bar sits high above the city, offering drinks with sunset views over the coastline, while a more casual burger venue caters to families and relaxed meals.

For meetings and events, the hotel includes a grand ballroom, several meeting rooms and a wedding pavilion overlooking the sea. Leisure facilities include a fitness centre, spa and a rooftop infinity pool.
