Madu Tiga Returns To The Big Screen At The MPO

Madu Tiga

Few Malaysian films are as enduring — or as fondly remembered — as Madu Tiga. More than six decades after its original release, the classic P. Ramlee comedy is set to be experienced in an entirely new way as the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) presents P. Ramlee’s Madu Tiga: Live In Concert.

Taking place on 23 and 24 January 2026 at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC, the event marks the opening of the MPO’s 28th season.

Relive A Classic

Audiences will watch the 1964 film on the big screen while the orchestra performs the soundtrack live, perfectly synced with the action, dialogue and iconic songs.

Demand for the concert has been strong, with a second performance added on 23 January following limited ticket availability for the 24 January show. The performances will be conducted by Ahmad Muriz Che Rose, who leads the orchestra through the film’s score and musical moments.

Madu Tiga is widely celebrated for its sharp satire, memorable performances and timeless humour. Directed by and starring the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee, the film tells the story of Jamil, whose decision to take a second and third wife spirals into chaos when the women form an unexpected alliance.

Music And Artistry

The film also gifted audiences a collection of evergreen songs performed by P. Ramlee and Saloma, including Pukul Tiga Pagi, Selamat Pengantin Baru, Gambus Jodoh and Madu Tiga.

This is only the second time the MPO has presented a Malaysian film in this format, following its live accompaniment of OlaBola in 2017.

By revisiting the P. Ramlee classic through a live orchestral lens, the MPO offers both long-time fans and first-time viewers a fresh way to reconnect with a cornerstone of Malaysian cinema — blending nostalgia, music and storytelling into a shared concert hall experience.
