Marina Bay Sands Comedy

Marina Bay Sands is ushering in the new year with laughter as it launches Sands Comedy Season (金沙喜剧季), its first-ever Chinese-language comedy festival. Running from 31 January to 5 February 2026 at Sands Theatre, the inaugural season brings together some of the most influential names in Chinese comedy alongside regional talent, marking a new chapter in the integrated resort’s entertainment programming.

Co-organised with Clover Films, Sands Comedy Season presents a diverse line-up spanning stage productions, stand-up comedy and a world-premiere film, spotlighting leading comedy brands from China and Singapore. The festival builds on Marina Bay Sands’ strong track record of hosting major Chinese-language acts, while introducing a dedicated platform for comedy-led storytelling.

Iconic Comedy Brands Take Centre Stage

The season opens on 31 January with Mahua Fun Age (开心麻花), one of China’s most influential comedy culture brands, making its Singapore debut with its blockbuster stage production The Count of Wulong Mountain (乌龙山伯爵). First staged in 2010, the production has been performed over 4,000 times across more than 50 cities, attracting over three million viewers. The fast-paced comedy follows Xie Xie, a man who unexpectedly inherits a fortune, only to be swept into a chaotic bank heist and escape, packed with sharp twists and exaggerated characters.

On 3 February, Singapore’s beloved “King of Comedy” Mark Lee (李国煌) takes the stage with his first full-length Mandarin stand-up show, Old Horses Still Have Spring (老马也有春天). Performed just ahead of Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse, the show draws inspiration from the idiom “马到成功”, weaving personal reflections on work, money, marriage and aging with Mark Lee’s signature candid humour. Veteran host Marcus Chin (陈建彬) joins as a special guest, reuniting the long-time comedy partners for rapid-fire banter.

Stand-Up Comedy and a World Premiere

Making its international debut on 4 February, Xiaoguo Comedy (笑果文化) brings its Stand-Up Comedy and Friends Season 2 World Tour to Singapore. Featuring popular Chinese comedians including Cheng Lu, Ji Ye, Xiao Qi, Sun Shu Heng, Xiao Si Ye and Shan He, the show extends from Xiaoguo’s hugely successful online series. Since July 2025, the tour has staged more than 77 performances across over 20 cities in China, cementing Xiaoguo Comedy’s role in shaping China’s modern stand-up scene.

The festival concludes on 5 February with the world premiere of the Singapore–Thailand co-production 3 Good Guys (《老婆,我爱你!》). Directed by Boi Kwong, the fantasy romance comedy stars Singaporean influencers Simonboy, Mayiduo and Tommy Wong, alongside Thai influencer Fah Chatchaya Suthisuwan, Grace Teo and Germaine Chow. The film follows three men navigating love, marriage and misfortune, leading to a night of mystical encounters, laughter and unexpected revelations. Special appearances include Mark Lee, Thai actor Ananda Everingham, actress Prang Kannarun Wongkhajornkai, and social media personality Annette Lee.

With a week-long programme celebrating humour across cultures and formats, Sands Comedy Season positions Marina Bay Sands as a new hub for Chinese-language comedy, inviting audiences to begin the year with laughter, storytelling and shared joy.
