Jon Hamm Is Reminding Everyone That The World Cup Is Happening This November

The world’s biggest sporting event will kick-off this November. Taking place in Qatar, the global football tournament will take place from 21st November to 18th December. To further remind fans, FOX Sports has released a new commercial starring Jon Hamm promoting the World Cup.
An Emmy Award-winning actor, Hamm is fronting the new World Cup campaign for FOX Sports, which is the English-language home for the tournament. The channel will telecast all 64 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 games for the American market.
Kicking-Off During The Holidays
This year’s tournament marks a departure for the World Cup. Typically held mid-year, this year’s tournament takes place during the year-end holiday season, to take advantage of the cooler weather in the host country.
That naturally brings us to the Jon Hamm TV Spot, promoting the World Cup. The actor, most famous for his role as Don Draper in the TV series, Mad Men and most recently, Top Gun: Maverick, takes on a different role for the new campaign.
Playing Santa Claus, the TV Spot sees the actor sitting by the poolside, when he receives an urgent phone call from the North Pole regarding the FIFA World Cup taking place during the holiday season – his season.
At the North Pole, the elves are already celebrating the big news unaware their boss will be upset. Upon hearing the news from his head elf, Santa’s spirits are no longer jolly as he realises he must now perform up against some of the greatest global sports icons on the world stage, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. With a pout, Santa accepts this challenging feat and cuts his vacation short to get to work.
“One of the unique things about the FIFA World Cup is that it’s a really communal experience where people want to get together with others to enjoy the event,” elaborates Robert Gottlieb, Executive Vice President, Marketing, FOX Sports.

We look forward to following Santa on his soccer journey as he meets more surprise guest stars and becomes captivated with this year’s long-awaited tournament.”
The new World Cup commercial is reportedly the first of several featuring Jon Hamm. FOX Sports is due to unveil the next instalments with a star-studded line-up leading up to the tournament.
