Harry Potter Second Season

HBO Max has officially renewed its upcoming Harry Potter series for a second season ahead of the show’s debut later this year.

Season one, adapting Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is scheduled to premiere during Christmas 2026, with production on season two set to begin this autumn.

The streaming platform also announced that Jon Brown has been elevated to Co-Showrunner for the second season alongside Francesca Gardiner. Brown previously worked as a writer on season one after collaborating with Gardiner on Succession.

Gardiner said overlapping production schedules made the appointment essential to maintaining momentum as the large-scale adaptation progresses.

The new series follows Harry Potter’s introduction to the wizarding world after receiving an invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on his 11th birthday, setting the stage for the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novels.

The project is executive produced by Gardiner, Mark Mylod, Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and David Heyman, with production handled by Warner Bros. Television and Brontë Film and TV.
