The wizarding world is set to return to screens this Christmas, with HBO releasing the official second teaser for its new eight-episode series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The series will debut on HBO at Christmas 2026 and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Based on J.K. Rowling’s first Harry Potter novel, the story begins with Harry Potter, a boy raised by his aunt and uncle who has been led to believe there is nothing particularly special about him. That changes when a mysterious letter arrives inviting him to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

His arrival at the school introduces Harry to a hidden world of magic, as well as the friendships and adventures that will shape his life. Alongside Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, he soon discovers that Hogwarts holds secrets of its own — including a growing threat linked to the darkest wizard of all.

The new series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron. John Lithgow takes on the role of Albus Dumbledore, with Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

The new adaptation marks a return to the beginning of Harry’s story, giving audiences another opportunity to experience his first journey into the wizarding world.
