The DFP Seni Festival invites everyone to enjoy the musical culture of Malaysia

Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) proudly presents the DFP Seni Festival 2024, a vibrant celebration of music and performing arts spanning three months. Marking its sixth edition, this festival aims to provide a platform for Malaysia’s traditional and heritage art forms to shine on the global stage. By collaborating with diverse cultural groups and artists, DFP endeavours to preserve, nurture, and promote the rich diversity of Malaysia’s invaluable art forms.Seni Festival

A Strong Start

The festival kicks off with the mesmerising artistry of Jit Sin High School’s Chinese Orchestra on Saturday, 20 July 2024, at 8.30 pm. Under the theme “Dialogue of the Songs of Chu,” this concert will enchant audiences with orchestral Chinese music, featuring a captivating dialogue between the erhu and the cello, performed by Tan Rou Yee and Lim Sing Yee, respectively.

Moreover, following this captivating opening, arts enthusiasts can indulge in the traditional theatre of Mek Mulung on Saturday, 27 July 2024, at 8.30 pm. Entitled “DFP Muzikal: Mek Mulung Putera Cahaya Bulan,” this presentation, in collaboration with the Department of Culture & Arts (JKKN) and Kumpulan Mek Mulung Seri Mahawangsa, promises to transport audiences into a 500-year-old theatrical journey.Seni Festival

Immersive Theatre

The festival continues its immersive experience with the enchanting allure of traditional Minangkabau folk theatre, ‘Randai,’ scheduled for Saturday, 10 August 2024, at 8.30 pm. Titled “DFP Muzikal: Randai Mudo Pak Belalang,” this performance brings to life a captivating world where martial arts and dance intertwine seamlessly.

Audiences will be also be treated to cultural richness and energetic dance performances by talented children trained by Pewara Dance Theater, comprising alumni and staff of ASWARA (Akademi Seni Budaya & Warisan Kebangsaan).
