Belmond is proud to announce the inaugural winner of its first-ever Belmond Photographic Residency, awarded to the talented photographer Cecy Young, during Paris Photo 2024. This new initiative underscores Belmond’s ongoing dedication to contemporary travel photography, supporting emerging and unrepresented photographic talent, and showcasing their never-before-seen work.

The winning portfolio will contribute to the Belmond Legends campaign, a distinguished collection of commissioned works from renowned artists such as Coco Capitán, Jack Davison, and François Halard, among others. This campaign also includes a limited-edition series of art books, published and exhibited globally.
After receiving over 800 applications from photographers around the world, Belmond’s esteemed jury selected 18 finalists from 10 countries. The jury, made up of prominent figures from the photography and arts world, included Simon Baker (Director of Maison Européenne de la Photographie), Carla Sozzani (Gallerist and Founder of Fondazione Sozzani) and Antwaun Sargent (Writer and Curator).
About Cecy Young
Cecy Young, originally from Monterrey, Mexico, discovered her passion for photography at art school before moving to Paris to further her studies at the Spéos Paris Photographic Institute. Over the years, she has worked with commercial clients in the beauty industry but has always sought to expand her artistic horizons.

As part of her prize, Cecy will receive an all-expenses-covered residency at a Belmond property, a print publication with RVB Books, and a photography exhibition in a major global city. She will also receive mentorship from Belmond’s network of photographic experts and a financial award of €15,000.
