Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) will open a new IMAX with Laser hall at IOI Mall Damansara on 16 July, expanding its network of premium large-format cinemas in Malaysia.

The new auditorium becomes GSC’s sixth IMAX location nationwide, joining existing sites at IOI City Mall 2, KL East Mall, Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru and Mid Valley Southkey Johor Bahru.

Located in Petaling Jaya, the latest addition brings IMAX with Laser technology to the Damansara area, offering moviegoers enhanced picture and sound quality for blockbuster releases.

The projection system features 4K laser technology designed for IMAX screens, delivering brighter images, improved contrast and a wider colour range than conventional digital projection. The auditorium is also equipped with a 12-channel sound system, adding greater audio precision and immersion.

The opening comes as demand for premium cinema formats continues to grow, particularly for major film releases. GSC said it plans to expand its IMAX footprint further, with additional locations already in the pipeline.

Upcoming titles scheduled to screen in the format include The Odyssey, The End of Oak Street, due in August, and Resident Evil, arriving in September.

To mark the opening, GSC is offering a promotional ticket price of RM28.50 per ticket, reduced from the regular RM36.50, for a limited period.

The new IMAX with Laser hall opens to the public on 16 July at GSC IOI Mall Damansara.
