Warung Terang

Parts of Kuala Lumpur often overlooked after sunset will become the focus of a new public arts programme when Warung TERANG arrives from 8 to 17 May 2026.

Presented by Filamen as part of the Kuala Lumpur Festival by Think City, the initiative brings projection mapping beyond traditional large-scale building façades and into the streets through a mobile, artist-led format. Activations will move across locations including Jalan Tun H.S Lee, Muzium Telekom and River of Life.

The project aims to encourage audiences back into underused urban spaces while rethinking how downtown Kuala Lumpur can be experienced at night. By using light, sound and movement, familiar streets and landmarks are temporarily recast as creative public spaces.

Alongside the evening activations, the programme also includes daytime workshops and REAVANG, an open platform for artists and creatives to experiment with visuals and sound in a live city setting. Participating names include Fairuz Sulaiman, Fonetikar, Tan Ji Kean, and Indonesian collectives The Fox, The Folks, Story of Karana and Hue.
