Amazon MGM Studios Reveals New Cast Members For Upcoming Tomb Raider Series

Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed a new wave of cast members for its upcoming Tomb Raider series, expanding the ensemble of the Prime Video adaptation of the iconic video game franchise. Newly announced names include Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson, joining a project that reimagines the adventures of legendary archaeologist Lara Croft.
The series stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, marking a new chapter for the globally recognised character. Turner shared her excitement about the role, noting that Lara Croft has long stood as a powerful female figure in a traditionally male-dominated genre, describing her as a fierce and emboldened role model.
At the creative helm is Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge. Waller-Bridge expressed enthusiasm for the growing cast, highlighting the franchise’s rich roster of characters and teasing a blend of fan favourites alongside new additions created specifically for the series.

“Tomb Raider has always been defined by bold storytelling and unforgettable characters,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Amazon MGM Studios. He added that the inclusion of acclaimed performers such as Weaver and Isaacs brings added depth and gravitas to the world of Tomb Raider, setting the stage for an ambitious new interpretation for a global audience.
The production is further supported by Jonathan Van Tulleken, who will direct and serve as executive producer. The series is executive produced by Amazon MGM Studios in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, Wells Street Films, Story Kitchen and Legendary Television, with an extensive team of producers and co-executive producers contributing to the project.
Based on the long-running Tomb Raider video game franchise, the series follows Lara Croft’s high-stakes adventures as she navigates ancient mysteries, dangerous environments and complex personal challenges. With its expanding cast and strong creative leadership, the Prime Video series signals a bold and contemporary reintroduction of one of gaming’s most enduring icons.
