AIRSIDE is set to redefine art with an ASMR twist in Hong Kong
AIRSIDE has announced WEIRD SENSATION FEELS GOOD: The World of ASMR. This immersive, multi-sensory exhibition at the GATE33 Gallery in Hong Kong takes place from 14 March to 13 July 2025. This groundbreaking event, which aligns with the city’s renowned art month, will be the first exhibition of its kind in Asia.
After making waves in Stockholm and London, WEIRD SENSATION FEELS GOOD will make its debut in Hong Kong. The showcase offers a unique opportunity to explore ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response), a soothing physical sensation that has captivated millions worldwide.
A Multi-Sensory Journey
Curated by James Taylor-Foster, this exhibition offers a journey through over 40 works by international ASMRtists and contemporary designers. Visitors can experience the exhibit’s interactive and iconic design, including the award-winning ASMR Arena, a 100sqm space built from over a kilometre of woven pillows.
One of the highlights is a dedicated space honouring Bob Ross, the beloved TV host known for his calming presence and “Unintentional ASMR” on The Joy of Painting. Fans can enjoy original paintings and episodes from his show, celebrating the soft, soothing elements that made him an ASMR icon.
A Take On ASMR
The Hong Kong edition also features newly commissioned works by local artists. Curated by Daisy Chu, these installations offer a local perspective on ASMR, including an on-site studio by artists AK Kan and Kin Lam.
A Dynamic Arts Destination
In parallel, AIRSIDE showcases the Be Air Public Art Project, a permanent collection of striking artworks by Hong Kong artists, further cementing AIRSIDE as a dynamic arts destination in the city. The exhibition is presented in partnership with LG Electronics and supported by the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong.
AIRSIDE’s WEIRD SENSATION FEELS GOOD: The World of ASMR is an opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind cultural journey that explores the world of ASMR through art, sound and design.
