Enjoy fun for the whole family with ‘Fables And Fugues’ with the MPO

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is set to captivate young audiences with its Family Fun Day concert series, which combines music with interactive learning. The next concert, Fable and Fugues, will take place on Saturday, 15 March 2025 at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, KLCC, at 2.30 pm.

This exciting performance aims to engage children in the science of sound through enchanting stories and vibrant music. Led by the talented young conductor, Jebat Arjuna Kee, the concert will feature a dynamic program filled with playful and educational pieces.

Highlights include Haydn’s Toy Story, a whimsical work featuring toy instruments that will spark children’s curiosity. The Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite III: Empress of the Pagodas, inspired by classic fairy tales and Dorff’s Three Fun Fables, will captivate the young with tales like The Fox and the Crow and The Tortoise and the Hare, each told through distinctive musical instruments.

Also featured are Britten’s Simple Symphony, which includes the lively Playful Pizzicato with its bouncy, plucked strings and Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, a masterpiece perfect for introducing children to orchestral instruments in a fun, educational way.

To make the experience even more engaging, the MPO has partnered with Really Inventive Stuff, a group known for creating theatrical programs for young audiences. Co-founded by actors Sara Valentine and Michael Boudewyns, the group will add playful theatrical elements to the concert as part of their 20th Anniversary World Tour.
