The McLaren W1 serves as the successor to the iconic P1
The McLaren W1 marks a groundbreaking successor to two of the most revered supercars in automotive history: the McLaren F1 and P1. This stunning vehicle opens a new chapter in McLaren’s illustrious ‘1’ car lineage, embodying the principles that define a true supercar. Created with McLaren’s championship-winning mindset, the W1 is designed for unparalleled performance and engineering excellence.
At the heart of the W1 is an epic all-new V8 hybrid powertrain delivering an astonishing 1,258hp, the highest power output ever from McLaren, eclipsing that of all core competitors. The MHP-8 V8 combustion engine alone produces 915hp, achieving a remarkable 230hp per litre, the highest in McLaren’s history, and it revs up to an exhilarating 9,200rpm.
Moreover, complementing this is a power-dense E-module that contributes an additional 347PS, cleverly integrating the electric motor and control unit for reduced weight and optimal packaging.
McLaren’s legendary lightweight engineering shines through with the W1 weighing in at just 1,399kg, resulting in a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 895hp/tonne, unmatched by any previous McLaren supercar. This exceptional weight management, combined with Formula 1-inspired ground effect aerodynamics, allows the W1 to transform from road to track configuration seamlessly.
A drop in ride height by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear also engages up to 1,000kg of downforce, creating a truly immersive driving experience. The W1 is not just about raw power, it’s also the fastest-accelerating road-legal McLaren ever. It achieves an incredible 0-200km/h in just 5.8 seconds and reaches 300km/h in under 12.7 seconds, with a top speed of 350km/h.
On top of that, the driver engagement is enhanced by a rear-wheel-drive setup, delivering a staggering 1,258hp and 1,340Nm of torque. Innovative features such as the McLaren Race Active Chassis Control III suspension and advanced active aerodynamics, including the revolutionary McLaren Active Long Tail rear wing, elevate the W1’s performance.
This car is meticulously engineered for pure driving connection, featuring a bespoke carbon fibre monocoque and unique ergonomic designs that ensure the driver feels completely at one with the vehicle.
With a starting price of around £2 million and only 399 customer cars allocated, the McLaren W1 is set to be a collector’s dream, featuring virtually unlimited bespoke options through McLaren Special Operations (MSO). Each car will come with a comprehensive warranty and service plan, enhancing the exclusive ownership experience.
