This time, the two brands celebrate the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7

When two design icons like TAG Heuer and Porsche who are known for their timeless design come together, you know the result will be very special indeed. This was exactly the case in 2021 when both brands entered a global partnership celebrating their shared histories and values.

Now the two legendary brands are working together once more to celebrate one of Porsche’s (and the world’s) most iconic cars that came out 50 years ago. It is none other than the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, the very first 911 to bear the “Carrera” name and the brands are creating two limited edition chronographs to celebrate this.

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was first revealed on 5 October 1972 and was well loved and is regarded as an iconic collectors car today, much like the prolific TAG Heuer Carrera. The reason these two Carreras are so popular is because they blend racing spirit, performance and elegance in a way nothing else can.

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS2.7 was purpose built for rallying and racing and when Jack Heuer heard the name “Carrera,” it stuck with him ever since. That is part of the reason why these limited edition chronographs also take heavy design inspiration from the iconic colours of the car which came in 27 different vivid colours.

Moreover, the two-tone aesthetic on the Original Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is applied to these limited edition watches. The timepieces are also based on the 42-mm TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph. This includes the tricompax layout with chronograph counters at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions and date indicator at 6 o’clock.

The two versions of this watch are the blue version and the red version with the blue version being our personal favourite. This version of the Porsche watch will be limited to 500 pieces and will be marked “xxx/500” to remind you of just how exclusive your chronograph is. The strap will be either fabric or stainless steel.

 TAG Heuer has made the red version even more exclusive with only 250 pieces being produced and each one marked “xxx/250” as well. While the watchcase of the blue version will be finished in polished steel, the red version will come in a rose gold coloured case. The strap for this version of the watch will be red alligator leather.
