The Printemps Bleu Zenith Chandelier is a stunning crystal-porcelain chandelier
Hong Kong’s acclaimed designer Steve Leung has partnered with the legendary French luxury brand Baccarat to unveil the Printemps Bleu Zenith Chandelier, marking a historic moment in design. This collaboration celebrates Baccarat’s 260th anniversary and the 60th year of Sino-French diplomatic relations.
Many Firsts
As the first Chinese designer to work with Baccarat, Leung blends Asian aesthetics with French opulence in a stunning showcase of cultural synergy. Named “Printemps Bleu” or “Blue Spring,” the chandelier is inspired by the Qinghua Ci, a revered form of Chinese porcelain.
Notably, this piece reimagines Baccarat’s classic Zénith chandelier by integrating crystal and porcelain in a design that embodies the Yin-Yang philosophy, symbolising balance and harmony between Eastern and Western traditions. The chandelier features Limoges porcelain adorned with Baccarat’s signature clear and cobalt blue crystals.
Stunning Design
Its design includes intricate porcelain elements like cupels and balusters, marking Baccarat’s first venture into incorporating porcelain into their lighting. The result is a masterpiece that balances transparency and opacity, blending blue and white hues to celebrate both cultures.
Leung emphasises the significance of this project, stating, “This collaboration honours Baccarat’s rich heritage and the long-standing artistic connection between our two countries. It is a celebration of mutual respect and creativity, perfectly aligned with the 60th anniversary of Sino-French friendship.”
More Than Just Art
The Printemps Bleu Chandelier is more than a lighting fixture, it’s a tribute to the rebirth of nature in spring, captured through delicate motifs inspired by Baccarat’s historical archives.
These motifs, reminiscent of Qinghua Ci from the 16th century, are intricately designed to light up with a soft, enchanting glow, embodying the timeless allure of both Chinese and French artistry. This piece not only illuminates spaces but also bridges cultures, celebrating an enduring bond of artistic excellence.
