PUMA is bringing fresh energy to one of its most recognisable silhouettes with the launch of the Speedcat Lux collection, a new drop that pairs the brand’s motorsport heritage with a modern, fashion-forward twist. Arriving in three colourways and anchored by a bold metallic grey theme, the collection revisits the design DNA of the original Speedcat while giving it a premium update.

At the centre of the launch are two standout models. The Speedcat Ballet draws inspiration from ballet flats, featuring a sleek profile and a refined strap closure that gives it a softer, more contemporary feel. Alongside it, PUMA is reviving the Speedcat OG, shaped after the 1999 version that first helped define the shoe’s low-profile look and motorsport edge.

Elevated Design

While the designs stay true to the familiar Speedcat silhouette, the Lux range adds an elevated finish that leans into lifestyle wear rather than pure sport. It’s a shift that mirrors how many classic athletic shoes are finding new relevance in everyday wardrobes, blending comfort with a more expressive, style-led identity.

To introduce the collection, PUMA is framing the Speedcat as a creative catalyst rather than just footwear. The accompanying campaign centres on three protagonists – a ballet dancer, a photographer and a stylist – each bringing their own artistic sensibility to a minimalist set. The idea is simple: with little around them except blank space, the wearers become the ones shaping the scene, using movement, perspective and styling to bring the Speedcat to life.

The result positions the shoe as a tool for self-expression, highlighting how a familiar silhouette can still spark something new. Rather than reinventing the Speedcat entirely, PUMA leans into what made it iconic and then pushes its aesthetic into a more polished, fashion-driven territory.
