The ænigma collection is here and ready to blow your mind

After extensive research, including trips to Rome’s museums, botanical gardens, and a visit to Fendi’s iconic headquarters at Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, as well as its Tuscany factory, designer Lewis Kemmenoe unveils his Ænigma collection. And its a collection that’s well worth the wait.

What’s In A Name

The name, derived from the Latin word for “riddle” or “puzzle,” is also linked to the word enigma in English, evoking the idea of something mysterious and hard to decipher. The collection’s design explores a unique duality in materiality, blending the organic with the industrial.

Natural elements like timber and stone are thoughtfully juxtaposed with sleek, processed materials like metal, creating a striking contrast in each piece. The collection includes two distinct Fendi Chairs, one crafted from brass and the other from aluminum, showcasing this interplay of materials.

Iconic Style

Kemmenoe’s Ænigma collection features a curated selection of luxurious pieces: two chairs, a cabinet, two wall panels, three lamps, a coffee table, and a reimagined Peekaboo Soft bag. The bag, which is one of the house’s most iconic designs, has been reinterpreted with Kemmenoe’s signature style.

Additionally, the bag’s leather, meticulously cut in a jacket pattern by Fendi artisans is patchworked to reflect a key motif in Kemmenoe’s work. This bag is not just about style but also about meaningful details, its hardware integrates wood from the Ænigma collection, with a timber bar inside the bag and silver and brass screws that echo the metals used in the furniture.

A Special Surprise

Upon opening the Peekaboo Soft bag, there’s a hidden surprise. The interior reveals a rich wood texture, a thoughtful nod to the organic materials that run throughout the collection. Kemmenoe’s Ænigma is a celebration of craftsmanship, mystery, and the timeless interplay between nature and design.
