Dusit International has expanded its footprint in Japan with the opening of WE Hotel Toya, Dusit Collection, marking the debut of its Dusit Collection brand in the country.

Officially joining the portfolio on 1 July 2026, the luxury retreat is located on the shores of Lake Tōya in Hokkaido, within the Toya-Usu UNESCO Global Geopark. The opening also marks Dusit’s third property in Japan, following ASAI Kyoto Shijo and Dusit Thani Kyoto.

Originally opened in 2018, the 58-key property was designed by renowned architecture firm Kengo Kuma & Associates, whose portfolio includes the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo and V&A Dundee in Scotland. The design draws on the surrounding forests, mountains and lakeside setting, incorporating natural materials and contemporary Japanese craftsmanship to create a seamless connection with the landscape.

Accommodation comprises 55 guestrooms and three two-storey villas, all overlooking Lake Tōya. Each guestroom features a private open-air bath, while guests also have access to a communal bath with panoramic views of the lake.

The hotel’s dining programme has also been refreshed following its rebranding under the Dusit Collection banner. Signature restaurant EZO Cuisine showcases seasonal Hokkaido produce through Japanese dishes with international influences, while The Noodle Bar serves Thai favourites including Tom Yum noodles and Khao Soi. TARU Bar offers Japanese teas, sake, whisky and craft liqueurs, while Toya Bar focuses on cocktails and premium spirits in a relaxed lakeside setting.

Dusit Collection is the group’s upper-upscale and luxury brand, featuring hotels and resorts selected for their distinctive design, local character and strong connection to their destinations.

To celebrate the opening, WE Hotel Toya, Dusit Collection is offering an introductory promotion for stays until 30 September 2026. The package includes 20% savings on a half-board stay with breakfast and dinner, inviting travellers to experience one of Hokkaido’s most scenic lakeside destinations under the newly introduced Dusit Collection brand.
