Disneynature’s newest wildlife feature, Orangutan, is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ this Earth Day, April 22, offering audiences an intimate look at one of the world’s most fascinating primates.

Narrated by actor and comedian Josh Gad, the immersive documentary introduces viewers to Indah, an inquisitive adolescent orangutan learning how to survive on her own. As she prepares to leave the safety of her family group for the first time, Indah must navigate the towering rainforest canopy and discover what it takes to thrive in the wild.

The film is directed by veteran wildlife filmmaker Mark Linfield, who says orangutans hold a special place in his heart after decades of filming animals around the globe.

“After directing wildlife shows all over the world for the past 30 years, I can honestly say orangutans are my absolute favourite animal,” Linfield said. “They’re gentle, funny, smart and always surprising. Josh Gad’s narration has really captured their spirit, and the camera team managed to film a whole new side of their lives that viewers won’t have seen before.”

Set high in the treetops of Southeast Asia’s lush rainforests, Orangutan takes audiences deep into a vibrant ecosystem filled with playful personalities and remarkable wildlife. The film combines exhilarating action with tender moments, showcasing the beauty and complexity of life in the jungle.

The production is co-directed by Vanessa Berlowitz and produced by Linfield, Berlowitz and Roy Conli, with an original score by Nitin Sawhney that enhances the sweeping visuals.
