Disney+ has announced that the 98th Academy Awards will be live streamed in Malaysia on Monday, 16 March 2026 at 7AM MYT.

Broadcast directly from the iconic Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, the ceremony will once again be hosted by Emmy Award-winning television personality Conan O’Brien, marking his second consecutive year as host of the prestigious event.

The Academy Awards celebrate excellence in global filmmaking, with this year’s ceremony recognising outstanding achievements across multiple categories.

Disney Nominees At The 98th Oscars

Among the nominees this year are several titles from The Walt Disney Company, with animated and blockbuster productions competing in major categories. In the Animated Feature Film category, nominees include Elio from Pixar Animation Studios and Zootopia 2 from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Elio follows the story of a young space enthusiast who unexpectedly finds himself transported to an interplanetary organisation representing civilizations across the universe. Mistaken for Earth’s leader, Elio must navigate an intergalactic crisis while forming unlikely friendships with alien lifeforms and discovering his place in the cosmos.

Meanwhile, Zootopia 2 continues the adventures of rookie police officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they investigate a new mystery in the animal metropolis of Zootopia. When a mysterious snake named Gary De’Snake disrupts the city, the pair must go undercover in unfamiliar corners of the bustling metropolis to crack the case.

Avatar Franchise Also Recognised

The upcoming blockbuster Avatar: Fire and Ash has also earned nominations in the Costume Design and Visual Effects categories.

The film marks the third chapter in the Avatar saga from director James Cameron, continuing the story of former Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully and his family as they confront new threats on Pandora.

To celebrate the nominations, fans can revisit earlier entries in the franchise, including the Oscar-winning films Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water on Disney+.

With live streaming access to the ceremony, Malaysian audiences will be able to follow the excitement of Hollywood’s biggest night in film as the industry’s most celebrated talent gathers to honour the year’s best cinematic achievements.
