Casio has unveiled the MRG-B2000JS, the latest addition to its prestigious MR-G line, which represents the pinnacle of G-SHOCK’s shock-resistant watches. This limited-edition timepiece, with only 800 pieces available globally, draws inspiration from the Japanese katana sword, the Jyuroku-Maru: San, a one-of-a-kind creation commissioned by Casio for the MR-G collection.
Japanese Precision
The MRG-B2000JS embodies both the strength and elegance of the sword, blending traditional Japanese craftsmanship with modern watchmaking excellence. The MR-G line is known for its ultimate toughness, incorporating state-of-the-art technology and meticulous craftsmanship.
The MRG-B2000JS takes this to the next level by incorporating design elements from the Jyuroku-Maru: San katana. The sword’s blade was forged by master swordsmith Kamiyama Teruhira, and its unique scabbard was designed by artisan Nomura Mamoru using the traditional aogai technique, a form of Raden inlay using abalone and other shells.
Sharp As A Katana
The MRG-B2000JS features a recrystallized hybrid titanium bezel with a temper pattern that mirrors the blade of the Jyuroku-Maru: San. This high-tech material, composed of Ti64 and pure titanium, is forged under extreme heat and pressure, and then polished to replicate the katana’s exquisite design.
The band, which incorporates aogai blue shell lacquer, echoes the same artistry seen in the katana’s scabbard. Every MRG-B2000JS is meticulously crafted, with master swordsmith Kamiyama hand-engraving the kanji character 燦, meaning “San,” on each timepiece, giving it a unique touch.
Japanese Design
The watch also features a textured pattern that mirrors the hishimaki-gara design seen on the katana’s hilt, with indexes shaped to evoke the curvature of the blade. The timepiece is a true fusion of strength, beauty and tradition, making it a stunning collector’s item for watch enthusiasts and lovers of Japanese culture alike.
