Experience art like you never have before with STPI and its newest installment
Leading international contemporary art space STPI, Creative Workshop & Gallery, Singapore has announced its 21st Anniversary celebrations, headlined by a special exhibition titled 21 Years: A Story in Multiple Parts.
Opening from 25 September to 15 October 2023, the show reflects a rich history rooted in over two decades of artistic collaboration and accomplishments with more than 100 artists from around the world.
Moreover, with artistic collaborations at the heart of STPI, these works on show are a representation of the expertise, innovation, and experimental dialogues that take place in the Creative Workshop. This process empowers visiting artists of international calibre to push the boundaries of their practice, finding elevated forms of expression through print and papermaking techniques that challenge convention.
The Artists Behind The Art
21 Years: A Story in Multiple Parts will be a multi-faceted exhibition featuring a selection of over 30 artworks from more than 20 artists, spanning across the early 2000s to the 2020s, including the likes of Do Ho Suh (South Korea), Rirkrit Tiravanija (Thailand/USA).
Visitors can also take in the works of Pinaree Sanpitak (Thailand), the late Ashley Bickerton (USA) and Pacita Abad (Philippines), pioneer Singapore artists such as Chua Ek Kay and Han Sai Por, and many more.
A Special Celebration
To highlight this important and poignant coming-of-age moment, the milestone exhibition will showcase the stories, and creative relationships forged within the Creative Workshop and Gallery through historical photographs, a timeline of development, and artworks produced in residency.
What’s more, it reinforces STPI’s deep ethos of artistic experimentation and unlimited possibilities in the realms of print and papermaking, which have empowered many renowned artists in producing fresh works that find expression beyond the boundaries of their original practice.
Immortalised In Paper
In commemoration of its 21st Anniversary, STPI will also publish a seminal book titled PRINT / PAPER UNLIMITED, a rich collection of essays, interviews, and more. On this milestone occasion, STPI will also be donating artworks to six local charity organisations to support their fundraising activities.
