Minor Hotels is set to introduce its Avani Hotels & Resorts brand to Sabah with the planned opening of Avani Kota Kinabalu in the first quarter of 2027.

The 352-key hotel will form part of The Logg Luyang, an integrated development by KTI Landmark in the established Luyang neighbourhood. Located around 10 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the property is designed to serve both business and leisure travellers visiting the city.

Avani Kota Kinabalu will combine accommodation with five dining and social venues. The all-day dining restaurant will offer Sabahan, Malaysian, Korean and international dishes, while a Chinese restaurant will focus on Sabah Hakka cuisine and regional flavours.

Other outlets will include The Lobby Lounge, transitioning from a daytime meeting space to an evening venue; The Pantry, serving bakery items, desserts and coffee; and rooftop SEEN Restaurant & Bar, which will bring the established Avani concept to Sabah with globally influenced food, cocktails and music.

Leisure facilities will include an infinity pool and AvaniFit gym, while meeting and banquet spaces will cater to conferences, weddings and social gatherings. Nearby Tun Fuad Stephens Park will provide an additional option for outdoor recreation.

The hotel has been designed by Shah Architect, with landscape architecture by SD2 and interiors by INdulge. Its development forms part of Minor Hotels’ broader expansion in Malaysia, where it currently operates Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas in Johor.

For Kota Kinabalu, the project adds another hospitality component to the city’s growing commercial and tourism infrastructure, positioning the hotel as part of a wider mixed-use development rather than a standalone property.
Avani Kota Kinabalu is scheduled to open in Q1 2027.
