The hotly anticipated series Berlin finally comes out this year

When Netflix’s Money Heist first came out, nobody expected it to be the global phenomenon it turned out to be. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised at just how quickly we got hooked on the series and all its quirky and relatable characters.

One of the characters who seemed to really have a lot of people rooting for them despite not being too relatable was the psychotic yet charming Berlin, who instantly stole the show. So magnetic he was, in fact, that Netflix has announced a spin-off series based on the character.

Now, Netflix has announced that the all-new series, Berlin, is slated to premiere in December 2023 with Pedro Alonso reprising his iconic role. The series will follow the character’s journey through one of his most extraordinary robberies with his gang.

Berlin is created by Alex Pina and Esther Martinez Lobato, and is an eight-episode series written by Alex Pina, Esther Martinez Lobato, David Barrocal, David Oliva, and Lorena G. Maldonado.Albert Pinto, David Barrocal and Geoffrey Cowper share directorial duties on the show.

While Berlin tragically already passed in the current Money Heist timeline, this series takes place during his golden years before he contracted his fatal illness. In the series we will see how love and a payday worth millions, kept the titular character going.

But what’s a heist story without a good heist? Berlin will see the titular character prepare to make jewels worth USD 44 million vanish into thin air and he will enlist the help of one of the three gangs he has worked with so far to pull this off. The gang will be portrayed by Michelle Jenner, Tristan Ulloa, Begona Vargas, Julio Pena Fernandez, and Joel Sanchez.

The series began shooting last October in Paris and is still being filmed in Madrid. We hope that Netflix was just being conservative when it stated Berlin would premiere in December and the show airs sooner because we feel like we have already been waiting too long to enjoy yet another enticing story from the Money Heist universe.
