Kenzo is kitting out the French Judo Federation for the Paris Olympics
Kenzo has extended its support to the French Judo Team as they prepare for their upcoming competitions in Paris this summer. This collaboration not only underscores the brand’s commitment to sporting excellence but also aligns with LVMH’s dedication to promoting international sporting events.
Traditional Style
Artistic Director Nigo has curated a special outfit for the French Judo athletes, drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of Japanese culture. The ensemble, originally showcased during Kenzo’s Fall/Winter 2023 runway show, pays homage to the traditional Kimono.
Originating in Japan in the 8th century, the Kimono has evolved over time, symbolising discipline, respect, and commitment, values deeply resonant with both judo and Kenzo, making this collaboration the perfect match given the shared aesthetic and shared ideals.
A Clear Choice
In judo, the Kimono’s design has been adapted to enhance freedom of movement and durability, reflecting its integral role in martial arts. For Nigo, integrating the Kimono into Kenzo ’s aesthetic ethos represents a fusion of Eastern tradition with Western contemporary fashion, a hallmark of his creative vision for the brand.
French athletes will don this distinctive Kenzo Kimono suit during various official events this summer, showcasing the brand’s unique blend of cultural reverence and sartorial innovation. This ceremonial garment not only celebrates the team’s sporting prowess but also reinforces Kenzo’s ongoing exploration of cultural dialogue and artistic expression.
Proud Support
As the world eagerly anticipates these prestigious sporting events, Kenzo stands proud to support the French Judo Team, embodying the spirit of unity, excellence, and cultural exchange through fashion and sport.
