More than two decades after helping Chelsea win the FA Premier League Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is set to return to the Malaysian capital as part of The Famous CFC, the club’s international fan engagement event.
Taking place on 30 and 31 October 2026, the fifth edition of The Famous CFC will be hosted at Ascott Kuala Lumpur and Ascott Star KLCC Kuala Lumpur. The event is presented by The Ascott Limited, Chelsea Football Club’s Official Hotels Partner, and will bring together Chelsea supporters for a series of fan activities, meet-and-greet sessions and a live match screening.

Among the programme’s highlights will be a watch party for Chelsea’s Premier League meeting with Manchester United, screened live from Stamford Bridge. Hasselbaink will join fans during the Kuala Lumpur events, offering supporters an opportunity to meet one of the club’s notable former strikers.
The return also carries a personal connection for the former Chelsea No. 9. Hasselbaink was part of the Chelsea side that won the FA Premier League Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur in 2003, a tournament that brought the club to Malaysia during his playing career.
Between 2000 and 2004, Hasselbaink made 177 appearances for Chelsea and scored 87 goals. He won the Premier League Golden Boot with the club during the 2000–01 season after scoring 23 league goals, one of two occasions on which he finished as the competition’s leading scorer.
Malaysian Stopover

The Kuala Lumpur event is the latest stop in The Famous CFC, which is now in its third season. Previous editions have taken the experience to cities including Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and Hanoi, bringing Chelsea-related activities closer to supporters across Southeast Asia.
For Ascott Star Rewards members, specially curated packages are available for the Kuala Lumpur edition. These combine accommodation stays at participating properties in Malaysia with access to selected fan experiences, including opportunities to meet Hasselbaink.
The event also continues a broader collaboration between Ascott and Chelsea, with the hospitality group using its hotel network to create fan-focused experiences alongside the club.
For Hasselbaink, however, the Kuala Lumpur appearance offers a chance to revisit a city associated with an earlier chapter of his Chelsea career. His return brings together that sporting memory with an opportunity to meet a new generation of supporters who have followed the club long after his playing days.
The Famous CFC takes place at Ascott Kuala Lumpur and Ascott Star KLCC Kuala Lumpur on 30 and 31 October 2026.
