Iconic Marjorie Penang, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, has partnered with Sanrio Southeast Asia to launch what is billed as Southeast Asia’s first Sanrio characters-themed hotel experience inspired by Peranakan heritage.

The collaboration introduces three themed guestrooms based on Hello Kitty, Kuromi and Cinnamoroll, with each room combining the distinctive style of the popular Sanrio characters with decorative elements influenced by Penang’s Peranakan culture.

Extending beyond the accommodation, the hotel has also launched a Sanrio-themed afternoon tea experience, offering guests another way to engage with the collaboration through themed dining.

Visitors can also purchase a range of official Sanrio merchandise available exclusively at the hotel, including bathrobes, towels, toiletries, stationery, teaware and other collectibles.

The collaboration was officially launched at the hotel in the presence of Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, representatives from Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Sanrio Southeast Asia and Marriott International.

The new experience builds on a partnership between Iconic and Sanrio that began with licensed consumer products before expanding into hospitality. It also reflects a growing trend of character-themed hotel experiences that combine destination culture with globally recognised brands.
