Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming K-drama Tempest will be getting a healthy dose of Hollywood star power. Next year the stars of Hollywood and Korea collide in the eagerly anticipated spy thriller set to launch exclusively on the Disney streamer.

East Meets West

Disney+ Hotstar has officially revealed the extended lineup of US stars joining Korean icons Gang Dongwon (Peninsula) and Jun Gianna (My Love From The Star) in the upcoming series.

Holllywood actors John Cho (Star Trek)  will portray US Assistant Secretary of State with Michael Gaston (Spenser Confidential) as the Secretary of Defense.

Also featuring in the series are Spenser Garrett (Air Force One) as US President Hauser, Christopher Gorham (The Lincoln Lawyer) as a military contractor, as well as Joel De La Fuente (The Man In The High Castle).

Rounding up the cast are Alicia Hannah Kim (Cobra Kai), Brooke Smith (Silence of the Lambs), Jacob Bertrand (Cobra Kai), Romy Rosemont (Barry), Tom Lenk (American Horror Stories), and more.

Spy Games

Set in modern-day Korea, Tempest follows Munju, a highly accomplished diplomat and former ambassador to the United Nations, and Sanho, an international special agent, as they race to uncover the truth behind an attack that threatens the future stability of the Korean peninsula.

As well as the newly confirmed cast, Tempest will feature the eagerly anticipated on-screen partnership of two of Korea’s most accomplished actors – executive producer Gang Dongwon as Sanho, an enigmatic agent shrouded in a veil of secrets, and Jun Gianna as Seo Munju, a career diplomat who turns her razor sharp intellect to uncovering the source of a lethal attack.

Coming Soon

Tempest is directed by Kim Heewon (Queen of Tears, Little Women, Vincenzo) co-directed by Korea’s leading martial arts director Heo Myunghaeng (The Outlaws 4), and is written by Chung Seokyung (Decision to Leave, The Handmaiden, Little Women).

Tempest is just one of the upcoming Korean series featured at the recent 2024 Disney Content Showcase. The series streams exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar in 2025.
