Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and Alliance Bank are bringing back the Popcorn Run for its eighth edition on 6 December 2026, with a Marvel-inspired theme drawn from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. The event will take place at Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang, running from 5am to noon.

The annual GSC event combines recreational running with a cinema-themed setting, offering three categories to suit different fitness levels. Participants can choose the 5KM Fun Run, or take on the more demanding 10KM and 21KM Competitive Runs. The competitive categories will feature cash prizes of up to RM1,000 for top finishers.

With its focus on both running and entertainment, the event is designed to appeal to a broad audience, from regular runners and casual joggers to families and Marvel fans looking for a different way to spend a Sunday morning.

Marvel-themed race kits and activities

The Avengers: Doomsday theme will extend beyond the race itself, with participants receiving a race kit that includes a race jersey, finisher medal, race towel and drawstring bag. A GSC 2D movie ticket is also included, while runners in the 21KM category will receive an additional finisher T-shirt.

The race kit is stated to be worth up to RM400, although its contents vary by category.

Beyond the running routes, the event will feature Marvel-themed race elements, live entertainment and carnival activities. These provide an additional draw for participants who want to enjoy the event without approaching it solely as a competitive sporting challenge.

For families and groups of friends, the combination of physical activity and themed entertainment offers an opportunity to take part together, whether by completing the shorter distance or spending time at the accompanying activities.

The event also reflects the growing overlap between entertainment franchises and live experiences, with familiar film properties providing a theme for activities outside the cinema. In this case, the Marvel universe serves as the backdrop for a morning centred on fitness, recreation and shared experiences.
