The Rings of Power

The road to the One Ring is drawing closer. Prime Video has released the official trailer for season three ofThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, offering a glimpse of a Middle-earth on the brink of collapse as Sauron advances towards total domination.

“All of it has come to this,” Galadriel declares in the trailer, which sets the stage for a sweeping conflict involving Elves, Dwarves, Men and Wizards. With Sauron’s forces spreading across the land, the remaining kingdoms must find a way to unite before darkness overwhelms them.

The new footage introduces the Nazgnagôl, Sauron’s terrifying Ring-servants, clad in black armour as they roam Middle-earth. Elsewhere, the Elves struggle to defend their front lines, tensions threaten to divide the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm, and political factions push the island kingdom of Númenor towards civil war. In the eastern lands of Rhûn, Gandalf draws on his magic and powers of persuasion in an effort to turn the tide.

Five years after the fall of Eregion

Season Three picks up five years after the fall of Eregion, with Sauron’s armies having conquered much of Middle-earth. The Dwarves remain sealed within their mountain halls, while the Elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell rely on their Three Rings for protection.

In Mordor, Sauron works from his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, consumed by his ambition to create the One Ring and bring his remaining enemies to their knees. The season follows the free peoples of Middle-earth as they race to stop him from achieving his ultimate goal.

The new chapter continues the series’ exploration of the Second Age, thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books. It traces the rise and fall of kingdoms, the forging of powerful artefacts and the return of an evil that threatens to engulf the world.
