Emporio Armani Launches Its New 1981 Bag Collection

Emporio Armani has introduced the 1981 bag collection, a new accessories line that pays tribute to the year the Italian fashion house was established while reinterpreting elements from its design archive.
The collection draws inspiration from an archival micro-print, updated with a contemporary aesthetic that reflects the brand’s minimalist design language. Combining clean lines with practical functionality, the range has been created for everyday use, with styles designed to transition easily between work, travel and leisure.
A defining feature of the collection is a subtle folded design inspired by the Japanese art of origami. The detailing creates textured surfaces and sculptural shapes while maintaining the understated look that has long been associated with the brand.
The 1981 collection includes rounded hobo bags with asymmetric folded accents, structured flap shoulder bags, tote bags and handbags in a variety of sizes. Each silhouette balances soft forms with tailored construction, allowing the bags to suit a range of occasions and personal styles.

Metal hardware also references Emporio Armani’s heritage, with jewellery-inspired clasps serving as a key design element. Folded charms add a discreet decorative touch, complementing the collection’s clean and refined appearance.
The colour palette focuses on versatile neutrals, including tan, black and taupe, making the bags easy to pair with both casual and formal wardrobes.
By revisiting signature design elements from its archives while introducing contemporary materials and detailing, the 1981 collection reflects Emporio Armani’s continued focus on timeless, functional accessories rather than trend-driven pieces.
The Emporio Armani 1981 bag collection is now available at selected Emporio Armani boutiques worldwide and through the brand’s official online store.
