Dyson has launched the Spot+Scrub Ai in Malaysia, marking the brand’s first robotic vacuum cleaner capable of both wet and dry floor cleaning. Combining artificial intelligence, advanced vision systems and self-cleaning technology, the new robot is engineered to detect, target and remove stains while vacuuming and washing floors simultaneously.

The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai uses an AI-powered camera system and green laser-like illumination to identify nearly 200 types of household substances and obstacles. Once a stain is detected, the robot automatically adapts its cleaning behaviour, making repeated passes over the affected area until it determines the stain has been removed.

According to Dyson founder Sir James Dyson, the product represents the latest step in the company’s long-running robotics development programme, which began in the 1990s. He said the new machine combines intelligent stain detection with automatic floor washing and self-cleaning capabilities, reducing the need for manual intervention.

Automated Cleaning

The robot also incorporates LiDAR mapping technology and AI vision to navigate homes more precisely. It can recognise and avoid common obstacles such as cables, socks and pet waste while generating detailed cleaning maps through the MyDyson app. Users can also activate targeted spot cleaning remotely through the app.

For wet cleaning, the Spot+Scrub Ai features a self-cleaning microfibre roller supported by a 12-point hydration system that continuously delivers fresh heated water during operation. The roller washes itself on every rotation and automatically extends by 40mm to clean along skirting boards and room edges where dirt often accumulates.

The accompanying bagless docking station uses Dyson’s cyclonic technology to hygienically empty collected debris. It also washes the roller with heated antibacterial solution and hot water before drying it with warm air to help prevent mould and odours.

With AI-driven stain recognition, automated floor washing and advanced navigation, the Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai expands Dyson’s robotics portfolio and reflects growing demand for smarter, more autonomous home cleaning solutions.
