Monkey Shoulder is raising a glass to one of the world’s most iconic cocktails with the launch of Monkey Old Fashioned Month, a city-wide celebration that reimagines the classic serve through creativity, craftsmanship and contemporary cocktail culture.

Running throughout May, the campaign brings together some of Klang Valley’s most popular cocktail destinations, inviting bartenders and whisky enthusiasts to discover new interpretations of the Old Fashioned while showcasing the versatility of Monkey Shoulder’s signature blended malt Scotch whisky.

Participating venues include Three X Co, Frank’s Bar, Benang The Second Chapter and ENSŌ Izakaya & Bar. Each bar has developed its own unique variation of the Monkey Old Fashioned, offering guests a different flavour profile and cocktail experience at every stop.

Cocktail Twist

Among the featured creations are Sheldon’s Shoulder at Three X Co, Snicker’s Monkey Fashioned at Frank’s Bar, Ceylon Fashioned at Benang The Second Chapter and Monkey Ume at ENSŌ Izakaya & Bar. Together, the drinks highlight the creativity of local bartenders while demonstrating how a classic cocktail can be reinvented in fresh and unexpected ways.

At the centre of the campaign is the Monkey Old Fashioned itself, a signature serve built around Monkey Shoulder’s smooth Speyside malt blend. Created by Malt Master Brian Kinsman, the whisky is crafted using Speyside single malts aged in first-fill bourbon casks, delivering a rich and approachable flavour profile well suited to classic whisky cocktails.

According to Monkey Shoulder Regional Brand Ambassador Brendon Khoo, the campaign reflects the brand’s long-standing philosophy of challenging convention and encouraging experimentation behind the bar. By celebrating the craft of bartending and inviting consumers to explore new interpretations of the Old Fashioned, Monkey Shoulder hopes to inspire a new generation of cocktail enthusiasts to create their own signature serves.

Beyond the bar experience, consumers can also recreate the Monkey Old Fashioned at home through the brand’s Monkey Lazy Old Fashioned concept. By scanning QR codes available at selected retailers, whisky lovers can access recipes and cocktail-making tips, extending the celebration beyond Klang Valley’s nightlife scene.

With inventive serves, creative bartenders and a fresh perspective on a timeless cocktail, Monkey Old Fashioned Month offers a new way to experience one of whisky’s most enduring classics.
