CHANEL Métiers d’art

The new CHANEL 2024/25 Métiers d’art campaign embarks on a poetic voyage from the heart of Paris to the misty landscapes of Hangzhou, China. Shot by photographer Mikael Jansson, the campaign captures the ethereal beauty of dusk over West Lake (Xihu), where the Métiers d’art show took place in December 2024.

Anchored at 31 rue Cambon, in Gabrielle Chanel’s legendary apartment, the campaign draws inspiration from the 19th-century Coromandel screen that once stood in her private quarters. Its lacquered panels, depicting idyllic Chinese landscapes, serve as both visual and thematic bridges between two continents and eras.

CHANEL ambassadors Tilda Swinton and Liu Wen, alongside model Lulu Tenney, embody this intercultural dialogue through fluid, sculptural silhouettes. The extraordinary craftsmanship of CHANEL’s artisan partners – Lesage, Lemarié, Lognon, Montex, Goossens, and more – is subtly showcased.

Pleats crafted by Lognon form architectural lines, while embroidery by Lesage becomes a landscape in its own right. Jewellery from Goossens glimmers in grey, midnight blue and antique gold, evoking a starlit sky.

A deep, textured black dominates the collection, from Liu Wen’s pleated black satin charmeuse dress with floral embroidery to a long leather coat finished with a Lemarié camellia brooch. Eveningwear is sensual and intricate, including a belted satin blouse with velvet lace flowers, revealing an embroidered vest beneath.

In contrast, morning mist is echoed in a diaphanous ivory silk satin ensemble, while a black canvas pea coat, detailed by Montex, is paired with quilted patent thigh-high boots.

Travel remains a core theme, reflected in reimagined CHANEL cardigans adorned with Coromandel motifs, two-tone knitwear, and accessories such as quilted travel bags and the new CHANEL 25 bag in sparkling black tweed.

With this Métiers d’art collection, CHANEL transforms heritage and craftsmanship into a visual odyssey – a timeless tribute to art, culture, and couture.
