In honour of Earth Month, Disney+ Hotstar is set to bring two highly anticipated nature documentaries to screens this April. Secrets of the Penguins and Sea Lions of the Galápagos are set to captivate audiences  with breath-taking wildlife of some of the most remote and stunning locations on Earth.

Secrets of the Penguins

Premiering on 21st April 2025, Secrets of the Penguins follows a remarkable group of emperor penguin chicks as they embark on their first journey from their colony to the ocean. The chicks face a terrifying obstacle—an enormous 50-foot cliff that lies between them and the icy waters below.

In a truly jaw-dropping display, the young penguins take the plunge, leaping from the summit of the cliff into the sea, only to emerge unscathed. While scientists have witnessed this rare behaviour in the wild before, this is the first time it’s been captured on film for television.

Sea Lions of the Galápagos

Premiering the following day, 22nd April 2025, Sea Lions of the Galápagos tracks Leo, a young male sea lion, as he leaves the safety of his mother’s colony to forge his own path. Leo’s journey is one of self-discovery, filled with swimming lessons, fishing expeditions, and challenges as he grows into a formidable sea lion.

In the harsh and competitive world of the Galápagos, male sea lions must battle it out to secure the best territories and become beachmasters. Leo’s quest for survival is fraught with difficulties, including encounters with a variety of other species, from marine iguanas and racer snakes to the mighty Galápagos sharks.
